How impact happens

The Global Citizens' Assembly creates change through five interconnected pathways. Ranging from global governance to local action, these create impact at every level.

GCA Header Impact
1

Institutional actions

Co-creating and advocating for ambitious, citizen-backed responses to planetary and social challenges with global, national and subnational institutions.

“”
The global green accountability platform represents what a vertical integration of local to global looks like. It ensures that grassroots organizations are building the community-based infrastructure to really have a voice and say in how climate finance is used and deployed.

Citizens’ actions

Participation does not stop when an assembly ends. Participants translate their experience into practical action in their own communities and networks.

“”
We started a project called climate recipes. This is an archive of solutions on water, environment, ways to live, behave, love, and worship … Even a community can facilitate what these recipes are and can use it to document and improve their day-to-day existence and the place around it.
Srinivas Mangipudi, India
3

Solidarity

The assembly strengthens empathy, trust, and cooperation across borders, cultures, and unequal climate realities.

“”
In June 2025, we brought together youth from different communities for a deliberative forum as part of the global citizen assembly on food systems leading to COP 30. We wanted to talk about how young people in Mindana experienced climate change and food insecurity.
Septrin Calamba. Phillipines
4

Learning at scale

Citizens collectively build climate literacy, political understanding, and shared practical knowledge through deliberation.

“”
I have shared my learnings from the workshop with my friends so that we can make kitchen gardens and grow vegetables which will help to improve our nutrition.
Sakshi Motiram Shelkhande, India
5

Inclusion

Open and diverse participation brings excluded voices into global governance processes.

“”
It was very good because it was the first time we were able to hear the youth talking about their worries about the climate crisis that is happening here in Brazil and in the rest of the world.
